What is

We define performance management as the set of managerial activities, tools and skills embedded in a structured process designed to “drive” organizational behavior toward predetermined performance goals.

This course starts by presenting reasons and elements of a performance management system and then focuses on developing the managerial skills necessary for its successful operation.

To whom is it addressed?

A manager who wish to understand what it is and what benefits involves a performance management system and who need to learn the skills to achieve the maximum from co-workers.

Goals

Provide participants with technical knowledge of a performance management system: what it is, what its components are, how the performance appraisal process takes place, what consequences it entails;

To develop in participants a “natural” aptitude for performance evaluation;

Provide them with the fundamental skills necessary for the performance management process;

Methodology

Two classroom days, with cases, simulations and other Active Learning activities.

Classes will consist of 8-10 participants.

During the first day, a real-world business case of a company that has adopted performance management in a competitive market will be presented. This case will allow us to introduce the topic of performance management in a concrete and contextualized way.

The second day will be devoted to developing the skills needed for performance management especially the ability to observe, provide feedback and evaluate one’s employees.

Creative and structured group work

All participants will be given the essential bibliography for the course.
